Large meals near bedtime
NHLBI recommends leaving time between a heavy meal and bedtime. It also treats a light snack differently from a large dinner. Meal timing is one part of a broader routine, alongside a consistent schedule and a suitable sleep environment.
BedtimeBite’s cutoff is a planning tool. It does not guarantee a sleep improvement or establish a medically safe time to eat.
Nighttime reflux is a separate consideration
NIDDK suggests that people with nighttime GERD symptoms may benefit from meals at least three hours before lying down. This is symptom-specific advice, not a rule for everyone.
Your needs come first
Persistent sleep or digestive symptoms deserve a conversation with a qualified healthcare professional. People managing diabetes, pregnancy-related symptoms, eating disorders, shift work, or prescribed meal timing need individualized advice.
